Dr. Carrie Chrisco will discuss Faces and Places of India on Friday, September 18, 2009, 1:00 pm, on the first floor of Frazar Memorial Library.
Carrie is the Head of the Department of Mass Communication at McNeese State University. She is also been a sailboat captain, delivering boats to such far away places as Tonga, in the South Pacific and many trips to Central America and the Virgin Islands. She wrote and photographed her sailing experiences for Cruising World Magazine during the six years she sailed her own boat in the Caribbean.
Carrie has produced documentaries from a cultural angle, the last, “Garifuna; The Living Dance.” This show and a previous show “On the Amazon” is an example of documentary photography. Carrie has visited 40 countries and is creating a social media site where she can take people along on her trips. Faces and Places of India is a show with images from Northern India that were taken during a five week trip to the region in the summer of 2008. The exhibit will run through December 11, 2009.
